Migrating to ZTE MC888 Pro
My internet provider told me a while ago that my old 4G router would be left in the dark after New Year. Enter the ZTE MC888 Pro.
While the IEEE 802.11 standard allows up to 32 US-ASCII characters in SSIDs, this router supports only up to 29 characters. Fortunately, the router does allow PSKs up to 63 characters long. Why are consumer products so dreadful to begin with?
On the brighter side, I now have a 1 Gbit/s wired network, 802.11ac, and .11ax in the house. I had to tell the router to use the 4G service, which gave me four out of five bars, as the 5G service is horrible where I live, virtually no bars.
