Autodesk Revit Server 2026 and separate storage for user data
The Autodesk Revit Servers at ${WORK}
have a separate NTFS volume for storing the user data. Up until Autodesk Revit Server 2026 this has never been an issue at all.
According to https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/This-operation-could-not-be-completed-occurs-during-saving-or-sync-when-projects-or-cache-paths-were-modified-in-Revit-Server.html, we must edit two instances of Files.config
, adjusting the paths of the Projects and the Cache directories.
In my case, I only had to change the drive letter. I had to run Notepad with elevated rights to be allowed to save these files. For good measure, I also edited Files.config
in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit Server 2026\Services\AutoSyncService\Config
.
Let’s hope Autodesk Revit Server 2027 doesn’t exhibit any abnormalities. I can only wonder why Revit Server doesn’t get any updates between each release. And why isn’t there some decent tooling for dealing with any corruption among the projects?
